I met a friend of mine who just moved to be a specialist in a hospital nearby.
He related his experience and his current plans which included establishing himself as a specialist
in his own field and seeking to work hard to ensure that he accumulates the kind of financial expectation that he sets for himself.
He reckoned that now is his time to strive towards that goal as he intends to slow down in five years time.
He will reduce his activity level after that and seek other things which might be more meaningful in life.
Much earlier on, I had dinner with a friend of mine who is a CEO of a multinational company who stated that there are times in life where you really work hard and smart to establish you mark in the industry.
However he did mention that the energy level can only be sustained at the highest level for a certain period of time.
Generally once you press forward beyond a certain age within a five year period the energy level drops in an unfamiliar way.
Perhaps other things in life started to gain prominence.
Maybe there is a new definition of what is important and what no longer holds dear to us.
After all our needs change from time to time.
What is important today might no longer be relevant tomorrow.
What strikes me most is both of them mention about the same time frame and the same target age.
I suppose there is a psychological impact at every age bracket that we are in.
At each bracket there will be similar needs and differences in terms of what is important and what is not.
Yet at different age bracket the priority of importance changes.
We might like to watch action packed movies at young age yet as we progress with time we might love drama for a change.
I don’t think there is anything wrong.
It only signifies that we are progressing in time and our thoughts and needs will evolve as well.
Perhaps what needs to be emphasize is that we are constantly changing on terms of our needs and priorities.
Yet that should not be a worrying thing.
We should just accept the change with an open heart.
At the same time perhaps it’s wise that we asked ourselves what is important now and what might be important in five years time.
Maybe by having a focus on what we want to achieve we could channel our energy in the right manner so that we can achieve what we set out to achieve in the first place.
Maybe that should be the way.
Perhaps that’s why both if my friends told me about their plans and what they intend to do after that.
Sometimes it’s perhaps better to plan ahead.Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone
