Yesterday my friend told me that she had to go back late even though it was a Friday night because her boss wanted to have a discussion with her.
In my mind, it was a Friday night. People are looking forward for the weekend yet you have a boss who is more interested to hold a discussion on not only Friday but at night as well.
Maybe the boss was trying to show how hard working he was and my friend should emulate his working ethics.
She told me that sometimes her boss would have many discussion sessions with her until she couldn’t focus on her job.
I wondered why did the boss like to have a discussion when he should know that the staff needed a certain dateline to meet for their work.
I have another friend who told me that the staff at her office generally leave late because the boss hasn’t left yet.
If that’s the case how can that really benefit the company?
I do know of another friend who told me that his boss implemented a new system whereby all sales staff out there must go back to the office in the afternoon to clock in and to have meetings.
How is it possible to focus on the meeting when everyone knows the shorter the meeting the better therefore nobody wanted to say much?
Why not have a meeting early in the morning when everyone s mind is still fresh and energetic?
I do know of some bosses who like to call for frequent meetings and since all the top ranked officials are holed up in a meeting no work gets done as approval need to be obtained from these bosses who act like a boss however they just talk a lot.
Some bosses only know how to give instruction however the logic of their instructions defy everything else that’s meaningful in business.
There are bosses whom when they go for meetings they like to drag a few employees with them so that they looked very important in front of their customers.
Another friend of mine wanted to go back home during the Chinese New Year holidays together with her colleagues however to their dismay, the boss rejected all their leave applications.
That would indeed caused unhappiness to the affected staff.
Then again why reject all the leave applications?
Only the bosses can enjoy their holidays and not their staff?
After all their staff is working for bosses to build their dreams right?
There are many bosses who like to call their staff at odd hours.
It could be early morning or late at night or it could be weekends.
The next thing you know your weekends are ruined.
Why do some bosses like to do that?
They are supposed to be smarter in every way and are role models to the employees.
Yet their behaviour sometimes begs a different answer.
Why are they bosses in the first place?
With so many lousy bosses out there how does the business thrive?
How do they lead the pack against the competition?
How do they hold on to the customers?
Sometimes you really wonder.
Will the real bosses stand up then?Sent from my iPhone
