The Book Launch of ‘A Man and his Wallet &other stories’ by Tan Bok Hooi was held in International Medical University (IMU) on 28th July 2016 from 5pm. The guest of honour was Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Abu Bakar Suleiman, chairman of Integrated Healthcare Holdings Berhad (IHH) and President of IMU. The VIPs who were present on that day included Tan Sri Prof. Datuk Dr Augustine Ong, President of MINDS and MOSTI, Dato’ Sri Yap Chong Lee, Executive Director of Sin Heap Lee Consolidated, Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, founder of Sutra Foundation, Professor Chia Swee Ping, Professor Kurunathan Ratnavelu, President of Malaysian Institute of Physics and Dr.Mei Ling Young, IMU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Engagement and International.     image

This book launch marked Tan Bok Hooi’s return to the literary world after an absence of more than two decades. His first literary adventure, entitled Topeng, was published in 1992 followed by six compilation of short stories with other authors. However the latest book is his first in English

The book itself represents a thought provoking journey in life while grappling with a maze of possibilities that explores the all-encompassing themes of unconditional love, strength of familybods righteous moral values   respect for the elderly passion for life and the inherent potential of self belief. image

The event was attended by more than eighty participants ranging from corporate figures, friends and IMU students. The performances on the day included soprano sensation Chaing YiLing, who won the Margaret Pascoe Singing Scholarship and Ella Cheshire Award for soprano while studying in Birmingham Conservatoire. The other performer is Hayden Kua, a young talented boy who will be studying in Eaton College UK in September 2016 based on a music scholarship. Hayden performed on the violin and flute respectively.  image

The duration of the programme was about an hour and half followed by a book sales and autograph sessions.
